Another amazing real-life act of heroism has been pictured in the news for us this week. Added to the teachers risking their lives in recent shootings, the indelible image of Asiana Air's flight attendants carrying passengers on their backs away from the burning plane had me asking, “Who would I go into a burning plane to rescue?”
Some will, no doubt write such heroics off as part of the job, or an example of a culture that values honor, courage, and service,  but I see ordinary people at the end of a long flight choosing to be Good Samaritans in the extraordinary circumstances that unfolded around them as a challenge to us.  In Luke 10 Jesus urges believers to take the time and make the effort to have mercy and do likewise to the tired, hurting, bruised and battered. How are we doing locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally? May the news coverage of 100 pound flight attendants going back to help others inspire you to live out Christ's mercy in your daily lives!
