Thanks to your support hundreds of dollars were raised for the Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry and Hesed House at our benefit concert January 27, 2012. Sponsored by the Kendall/Aurora Chapter of Thrivent Finanical for Lutherans, coats, clothing and food were gathered for some of our areas neediest residents.
In addition to standards like “Saskatchewan” and “The Lutheran Song,” an homage to women of faith and faithfulness was sung. “Grandma, My Dear Grandma, though your husband is gone, you still carry on” was a touching reminder of God's abiding love, passing the torch of faith from one generation to the next, and an encouragement for us all to value God-given relationships that can be all too fleeting.
The appearance of “Al Packa” a formally attired hand puppet, “The Slinky Song” and Michael's running reparte made for an enjoyable evening of faith, fun, and comaraderie, in spite of the impending blizzard. Check out George and Micheal's latest, “Here” at www.speedwood.com
