This Sunday is Life Sunday, a time when we thank and praise God for His life-giving activity in the creation of physical life and the re-creation of redeemed spiritual life. As you thank God for His gifts of your life and health and spiritual well-being, ask Him to open your eyes for opportunities to serve Him and your neighbor in ways that are pro-life: help the helpless, whatever their age; feed the hungry; heal the sick; comfort those who mourn; work to end drug and alcohol abuse; work to end gang violence; work to eliminate elder abuse; strive to end human trafficking; etc. (or as God has more succinctly put it: “Love your neighbor as yourself!”).
No one of us can do all of these pro-life suggestions well, but as the people of God we are to take Christ's compassion into our world. This year, keep “Life Sunday” in your heart throughout the year. Choose one pro-life effort that God has laid upon your heart and share His compassion in Word and deed and He will make a difference!
