“Why would I work 80 hours a week (at a minimum-wage service job), struggle with school, barely get any sleep and be treated like a second-class citizen, when I can do porn for 14 hours a day, make thousands of dollars, set my own hours and have a ton of fun doing it?” quotes the Chicago Tribune reporting an interview with a Duke University freshman. With critical thinking skills such as these, an academic scholarship obviously wasn't an option. Debasing oneself with entry-level labor seems to have been rejected out of hand, as well. Could a less expensive school or series of schools been an option? Could the school have had a code of conduct which would have rendered a career in porn ethically out of bounds for its students? Could society's moral suasion have been focused on other ills than smoking, supporting the unfettered choice to kill one's child any time before birth, the villification of the “intolerant,” and the shaming of everyone who holds marriage to be designed for one man and one woman for life?
In a culture which has broken badly in so many ways, personal choice has become a demi-god. The real God has warned that all who live in unrepentant sin have rejected forgiveness, eternal life, and salvation. As the fabric of our society decomposes, God's church calls out with the warning and the love of Christ: “Repent and believe the Gospel!” Choosy co-eds respond to His gracious invitation. Choosy co-eds choose Christ.
