“font-size: x-small;”>This seems to be the prevailing religious sentiment of our day. “I'm OK and you're probably not quite as “good” as I am, but we're lots better than Jeffery Dahmer or Stalin or former President Bush, so we're good to go (to heaven), right?” If you get your religion from Oprah or some of the adulterous “reverends” in the media or John Lennon's “Imagine” song, you may have had an “O wow!” moment that directly contradicted everything you had ever heard in church about heaven and hell.
This is what Jesus actually said on the subject in Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Don't cling to the message that heaven and hell are both real places because that's a quaintly comforting nostalgic throwback to a kinder and gentler age. Believe it because it is TRUE! While our society seems to value tolerance as the greatest of all virtues, God values us enough to tell us the TRUTH! In the words of John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” That's so intolerant that Jesus would score “0” for political correctness. Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved The Bible describes all mankind as being “dead in our trespasses and sins”–utterly unable to save ourselves (Ephesians 2:1-10), absolutely in need of a Savior.
It is horribly sad that many, many people are rushing to an eternal doomsday blissfully unaware of their danger or of the sure and certain HOPE of eternal life God graciously and freely offers in Christ Jesus! “Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life–all who believe in Him will live, even though they die” (John 11:25). It is a gracious, merciful, and blessed truth that Christ Jesus willingly suffered and died as the propitiation (payment in full for the sin guilt of all people for all time) for all people while we were still His enemies. No one deserves to be saved, but God's overwhelming love made it possibile for all to repent and come to the knowledge of the truth. Jesus is the only way to heaven–trust Him and live fully forgiven here on earth and perfectly whole, joyfully in heaven with Him and all believers forever!
