Over the course of almost 33 years of wedded bliss, I've remembered birthdays, anniversaries, tennis and badminton matches, piano recitals, scouting opportunities and done my share of forgetting things, as well. One of the things that my wife is very good at is making memories: before kids; with the children; after kids; with the grandchildren–she has a way of intentionally celebrating momentous and not-so-momentous occasions in a way that I sometimes balked at, but now appreciate as a conscious effort to build memories while there is time.
This Memorial Day, take the time to remember the sacrifices and the sacrificers that gave you your freedoms (especially the Great Sacrificer who hung on the cross and died to offer freedom from sin, death, and the devil to all who trust in Him). Then, consciously, lovingly, laughingly build some wonderful memories with your loved ones!
