“He's Just not that into You” was a 2009 romantic-comedy/farce/comedy of errors set in motion by individuals mis-reading of human behavior. Have you ever gotten yourself into a bit of hot water by misinterpreting someone else's intentions toward you? Have you ever been shocked to discover someone thought you were flirting with them or absolutely hated their guts?
In Luke 12:21, the New Testament Greek concludes the parable of the rich fool with: “so is he who is treasuring up to himself, and is not into God richly.” If God were judging based on your commitment of your time, would He get the impression that you're just not that into Him? If God were considering how you use your talents, would He be flattered at the high value you place on your relationship? If God audited your income and expenses, would His feelings be hurt by your response to Christ's life-blood poured out on Calvary's cross?
If you're feeling a little convicted by examining how richly you're “into God,” let me assure you that He is totally “into you.” He loves you lavishly, superabundantly, graciously, and undyingly. Jesus took all of those times when you were underwhelmed by the majesty, love, beauty, and perfection of God and buried them in His tomb. He died your death, suffered your hell, and rose to give you the benefit of His perfect obedience. Since He is so “into” you, get into His Word richly and be rich toward God!
