I just saw the Facebook post of one of our church members, captioning an engagement picture with the quote: “Best fiance ever!” I'm glad that he thinks so (in spite of her “making me eat vegetables”) and I hope and pray that everyone who's ever been a fiance (with the correct accent and spelling) or married one thinks that theirs is the best ever. I know I do.
This week my former fiance and I will celebrate 33 years of marriage by going to a restaurant with some architectural features that are not golden arches and I will find her a gift more romantical than new tires for the minivan.  At my best I've treated her with lovingkindness and at my worst, with not so much love or kindness. As we kick off our next 33 years, I owe it to her and to the God Who led me to find the best fiance ever and Whose altar sanctified our vows to try even harder. May we all thank God for all the loving relationships He has blessed us with and do our utmost to live up to His standards!
