Have you ever felt powerless, frustrated, like a useless cog in a vast machine or like a little toe-nail in the Body of Christ? Do you get jealous of the golden opportunities that fall into the laps of others? Does throwing up your hands in despair, gobbling pounds of chocolate, snarfing down quarts of “Chunky Monkey,” and watching daytime television tempt you to while away your time?
As quoted by Dr. Charles Stanley,  “The Fall of Fortresses” relates the story of one of the final Air Force missions over Germany in World War II. If you were a Czech prisoner of war, forced into slavish servitude of the Nazi war machine, what difference could you make in the war effort?
The Tondelayo, a B-17 Flying Fortress, returned from one of its final missions with 11 different 20 millimeter high explosive cannon shells lodged in its fuel tank. As you can imagine, even one detonation would have been fatal for the entire crew. The mechanics repairing the plane were at a loss to explain the plane's miraculous survival, until they opened the unexploded ordinance. “This is all we can do for you now” was scrawled on a note in Czechoslovakian inside one empty shell.
Our God has gifted you with all the time and talent and treasures and opportunities you have and has promised to work all things to the good of those who love Him. Never, Never, Never for a moment think that your response to His lovingkindness is unimportant. Pray, give, work, to share the Good News of Jesus with our world. You may not see the results of your efforts on this side of glory, but remember the heroic Czech slave and the descendants of the Tondelayo's crew if you're ever tempted to give up!
In the Name of Him Who will never leave you nor forsake you!
