A delightful and brilliant member of our former church in Montana recently facebooked a shared Physic's Page photo using a complex calculus formula which I can only assume equals two to explain: there are only (formula) kinds of people in the world, those who understand calculus and those who don't.
Using the calculus of this world, things don't always add up: 1/2 million people march on Washington to stand up for life and there is no comment or media coverage; 120,000-200,000 people stand up for marriage in Puerto Rico and there is no mention of it in the media; 3,000-5,000 people brave dangerously cold weather to take a stand in Springfield for real marriage and there is a news blackout; a few coyotes surround a golden retriever and it makes the news! One has to wonder if the demonstrators had been supporting causes favored by reporters or their editorial staff, how much coverage would have been provided.
“Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the LORD your God. Then the LORD will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you,” (Jeremiah 26:13) has never been a popular message. While politicians talk about “marriage equality” it is axiomatic that equating two unequal things is fraud. If one were to equate an ounce of gold and an ounce of straw, that would be counterfeiting. Equating real, natural, complementary, lifelong monogamous heterosexual marriage with anything less under the guise of “marriage equality” constitutes a horrible fraud, which will have costly and destructive consequences for our society.
In this world's calculus, “some are more equal than others” to use Orwell's words. While the press and media are free to excoriate supporters of real marriage, we are required by our Lord to love and care for all people, even those whose behaviors God in His Word forbids. The odds may seem stacked against Bible-believers and the acrimony and unfairness of corrupt political machine calculus may be tremendously frustrating. In the long run, it's God's gracious formula of salvation that will win the day. “Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the LORD your God. Then the LORD will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you.” Put another way, “Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved!”
